Sebuah Boy Band Yang berasal dari Inggris. Mereka menempati posisi ketiga pada seri ketujuh dari The X Factor. Setelah The X Factor, kelompok itu menandatangani kontrak rekaman dengan Musik Syco.

Debut single One Direction "What Makes You Beautiful" dirilis pada tanggal 11 September 2011. Hal ini memuncak di # 1 di UK Singles Chart. Single kedua mereka, "Gotta Be you", dirilis pada tanggal 13 November 2011, diikuti oleh album debut mereka Up All Night pada tanggal 21 November.

Masing-masing dari lima anggota diterapkan sebagai kontestan solo, tapi gagal lolos untuk kategori anak laki-laki. Setelah saran oleh Juri Tamu Nicole Scherzinger, lima remaja yang dimasukkan ke dalam sebuah band, sehingga kualifikasi untuk kategori Grup.
